Careely coach code of conduct
A coach must accept this code before the coach role can be turned on. Careely stores the version you accepted and when you accepted it. Both are included in your data export and are erased when you delete your account. The coach role is only for people aged 18 or over.
1. Career coaching only
- You help with careers: direction, career changes, skills, CVs, interviews, salary negotiation and leadership. Career counselling is in scope.
- You do not give therapy or psychological counselling, you do not diagnose, and you do not give medical or medication advice. Do not label a learner with a clinical condition, even if you hold a qualification in that field.
- Your profile, title, introduction and coaching areas must not advertise any of these services.
2. When a learner is in crisis
- If a learner mentions self-harm, wanting to die, abuse or being in danger, stop the coaching.
- Point them to Careely's hotlines and safety card. If the danger is immediate, point them to emergency services where they live.
- Do not try to handle a crisis in place of a professional. Tell Careely through the report channel, sharing no more private detail than needed.
3. Confidentiality and information security
- Keep everything a learner shares confidential. You only see what a learner chooses to share for a session. You never see their chats, insights or assessments.
- Never ask for passwords, one-time codes, ID numbers, bank details or card details.
- Do not record, photograph or share a session without the learner's clear consent.
4. Respect
- No harassment, threats or bullying.
- No discrimination by gender, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality or economic circumstances.
- No sexual content or advances, and no pursuing a personal relationship with a learner.
5. Keep sessions on Careely
- Once Careely takes payment for sessions, every paid session is booked and paid on Careely. Do not invite a learner to pay or book outside the platform to avoid fees or its protections (escrow, disputes, refunds).
6. Be truthful about credentials and experience
- List only real titles, experience, degrees and certificates. Do not exaggerate.
- The LinkedIn link and CV you submit for vetting must be your own.
- Do not promise outcomes such as "a guaranteed job" or "a guaranteed raise".
7. Conflicts of interest
- Say clearly when you have a personal interest in your advice, for example recruiting for a company, receiving a referral fee or selling a course.
- Do not use a session to recruit, or to sell other products or services, without saying so and getting the learner's agreement.
8. Reports and consequences
- Learners and coaches can report breaches to Careely. Careely reviews every report and does not reveal who reported to the person reported.
- Depending on severity, Careely may give a warning, suspend the coach role (the profile is hidden) or remove the coach from Careely. Severe breaches such as sexual harassment, fraud or asking for passwords can lead to immediate removal.
- Sessions in progress follow Careely's dispute and refund process.
